USA considers necessary to intensify talks on Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project

The USA considers necessary to intensify the talks on the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. Metyu Brayze, the USA state secretary advisor on the issues of Europe and Asia, made such a statement at his meeting with the Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Noting the important role of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in the development of the region, Brayza properly stressed the importance of the project in the integration of Azerbaijan and Turkey into Europe. Besides, he pointed out the significance of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project from standpoint of the energy security of Europe. According to Brayza, the project will not only raise the importance of Azerbaijan in the energy security of Europe, but also create a condition for the transportation of Kazakhstan gas to Europe through an alternative route.

Noting the importance of the project for the countries, Mammadyarov ruled out that Azerbaijan took a great importance not only as a country producing energy resources, but also as a transit country. Besides, Mammadyarov stressed the support of the USA.
