Latvian Foreign Minister’s Visit to Azerbaijan Begins

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayev /Latvian Foreign Minister, Artis Pabriks, arrived in Baku on 16 April for an official visit.

Kazar Ibrahim, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, reported that the Latvian minister began his visit with a tribute to the Cemetery of Martyrs and Cemetery of Honors. At 12pm the Minister is scheduled to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov, and give a briefing to journalists.

As a result of talks there are plans to sign an agreement on cooperation in youth policy and sports.

The Latvian minister will be received by the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade. At the end of the day Pabrikos will visit the Latvian embassy in Baku. On 17 April he will participate in an Azerbaijani-Latvian business forum and visit the Old City.

During the visit the Latvian minister will also tour the region, particularly Sheki and Ganja.
