Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / On June 13, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, got familiarized with the course of repair and reconstruction activities at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku. The President was informed that the work begun in November 2006 has been implemented by the company Serb-Az. The 18,000 sq m front of the building has been covered with facing materials delivered from Greece, with windows made of stained glass manufactured in Belgium. The hall, which can host 7,800 spectators, has been furnished with seats supplied from Czechia, and equipped with two Korean-made scoreboards. The first and second floors of the building have been covered with Italian granite slabs. The Complex has also been equipped with a special lighting system. Cost of the reconstruction work is estimated at AZN 11.6 mln. Important sports events the Complex is to host in the near future are: the 23rd European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship (early July), World Junior Boxing Championship (August) and World Wresting Championship September).
