Politics Materials 14 June 2007 17:02 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynlli / The Iranian Foreign Ministry has blamed the US for the explosion of the Askariye mosque, where Shiite Imams (saints) are buried, which was set off in the Iraqi city of Samira. According to the Iranian Embassy to Azerbaijan, the responsibility for that act of terrorism lies with the United States which is in charge of the city's security. The Iranian Government believes that the neglectful attitude of the United States towards sacred places, which are so valuable to Iraq's culture and religion, is what provides the opportunity for such aggressions.

On 13 June, an explosion occurred in the Iraqi city of Samira located 95 km north of Baghdad. The data on the casualties is still not available.
