Yang sets world record on way to men's all-around gymnastics gold

China's Yang Wei set a new world record total Thursday as he added individual men's gymnastics gold to the team one he won two days earlier at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing, dpa reported.

The 28-year-old, who took individual silver as well as team gold at the 2000 Sydney Games, amassed a world-record total of 94.575 points for his six disciplines to finish well ahead of Japan's Kohei Ushimura on 91.975 points.

France's Benoit Caranobe took bronze with a total of 91.925 points.
