(dpa) - American Rebecca Soni on Friday won the women's 200m Olympic breaststroke in a world record time of two minutes 20.22 seconds, beating Australian Leisel Jones by 1.83 second.
Both swimmers were under the old mark of 2:20.54 set by Jones in February two years ago.
Sara Nordenstam of Norway took bronze in 2:23.02.
The result was a reversal of the 100m breaststroke, where Jones won ahead of Soni.
