The Azerbaijani National Sciences History Institute with the support of the Public Association for Regional Development published the first volume of a book on the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy.
The first volume of, "Azerbaijan. The history of international relations and diplomacy 1639-1828 years" includes up to 50 different documents, many of which were published in the original version.
"The book includes intergovernmental treaties and other foreign policy documents, which play a crucial role in the history of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani diplomacy has ancient roots," Yagub Mahmudov, History Institute head and coauthor of the book, said at the presentation.
Mahmudov also expressed concern that wealthy Azerbaijanis, as well as government officials have no interest in financing the publication of books on the history of Azerbaijan.
The second edition will be devoted to the period beginning with the 1829 treaty between the Russian and Ottoman empires until April 1918, the third volume to the documents of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the fourth volume to the documents of the 1920-1991 Soviet period.
