An agreement was signed on a joint project initiated by the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) in Baku on Thursday.

An agreement was signed on a joint project initiated by the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) in Baku on Thursday.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev said that the project called a 'Taste of the Silk Road' will be implemented in accordance with this agreement. An international conference on gastronomy, culture and tourism will be held within this project in Baku on Sept.6-7.

Azerbaijan has been a WTO member since 2001, but it is the first joint project with this organisation, he said. According to Garayev, the project will create wide opportunities to promote the tourism potential of Azerbaijan.

WTO department head Alla Peresolova expressed her satisfaction with cooperation with Azerbaijan, as well as confidence in further boosting of this cooperation.
