Female gymnast from Spain, Polina Berezina told Trend May 17 she is happy that the most important competitions are held namely in the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

“I was in Baku last year, and I really liked it,” she said. “So, I am glad that the most important competitions take place namely here, in the National Gymnastics Arena. At the competitions, the support of the audience is strongly felt, it is pleasant to every gymnast, and it motivates to do the exercise well.”

The gymnast noted that she is pleased with her today’s performance.

“I was focused when implementing the first exercise, I made mistakes in the second one,” she said. “Tomorrow is another day of competitions, and I hope that I will perform even better.”

Speaking of rivals in competitions, the gymnast added that strong gymnasts participate in the championships.

“Every year teams are getting stronger, but we all also improve our level,” said Berezina.

The gymnast emphasized that she watched the opening of the European Championships May 16, adding that she really liked the gymnastic performance.

The second day of the 35th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is underway in the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku May 17.

The qualifying competitions of senior female gymnasts in the individual program in exercises with a hoop and a ball are taking place on the second day of the championships.

The 35th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships will last until May 19. During the four-day championships, senior female gymnasts will perform in the individual program, while junior gymnasts will participate in the group exercise program. Athletes from 35 countries are taking part in the championships.

Azerbaijan is represented by Zohra Agamirova and Veronika Hudis in the individual program, and a team consisting of Madina Asadova, Laman Alimuradova, Seljan Hajizade, Milana Akbarova, Farida Safiyarzade in group exercises.
