BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 2. In general, I was satisfied with my result at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijani gymnast, bronze medalist Nikita Simonov told Trend.
Recall that Nikita Simonov took third place at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku in the exercise on the rings.
"The World Cup in Baku is the fourth stage of this season, and therefore it was a bit difficult. Today I completed the program with minor flaws, but overall I am satisfied. Participated in four stages, and in all I went to the finals. Since these stages are qualifying for the World Cup, it was necessary to reach the final. Now the new rules, the combinations are being rebuilt, changing, I will work on them and prepare for the World Cup," he said.
Nikita Simonov added that he used to perform on other gymnastic apparatus, but now he specializes only in rings.
Speaking about the young Azerbaijani gymnasts, Simonov stressed that everyone is trying and working for the best result.
"The guys are trying, taking an example from adult athletes, and we, in turn, suggest and guide. There are very good conditions in Baku, training halls, there are all opportunities for sports growth and development. The main thing is desire, aspiration, and if young athletes have it, then everything will work out!” the Azerbaijani gymnast concluded.
It should be noted that from March 31 to April 3, another prestigious competition is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku - the FIG World Cup in men's and women's gymnastics. 145 gymnasts from 34 countries of the world participate in the competition.
