Chairman of State Students Admission Commission Claims Students Studying Abroad at Expense of State should Work in Azerbaijan for Five Years After Graduation (video)

Aghayeva / The key condition put forward by Azerbaijan for those whishing to study abroad at the expense of the state is five years of work in Azerbaijan after graduation, the Chairman of the State Commission on Students Admission, Malayka Abbaszadeh, said to journalists on the 19th of June.

The State Commission has already begun viewing applications from those whishing to study abroad in accordance with the State Program on Education of Azerbaijani Youth Abroad in 2007-2015 approved by the Azerbaijani President on the 16th of April, 2007.

According to Abbaszadeh, the requirements to apply for the studying abroad programme are as follows; the entrants of the second, third and fourth specialty groups, who collected 600 or more points at entrance exams to Azerbaijani institutes of higher education for 2007/2008, the entrants from the 1st group, who collected 550 points or more, the students receiving their bachelor degree in the Azerbaijani institutes of higher education on priority specialties, as well as the individuals who entered themselves, invited, or studying on priority specialties in foreign institutes included into the lists approved by the corresponding state body.

"In order to participate in the contest the students receiving their bachelor degree with the average advancement point being over four (by the five-point system) or over the indicated equivalent of the estimation system adopted in the institute, may apply for the opportunity to study abroad" the Chairman noted.

The program offers places to 5,000 Azerbaijanis in prestigious foreign institutes of higher education. The selecting of the institutes and area of expertise were considered a key priority for Azerbaijan.
