BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. The number of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 27,600 people or 1.6 percent as of December 1, 2022, compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, the total number of employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.7 million people as of December 1, 2022, including 903,300 in the public sector of the economy and 829,200 in the private sector.
Some 19.3 percent of the total number of employed persons work in the field of education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, 12.9 percent in industry, 8.2 percent in healthcare and social services, and 7.2 percent in construction.
According to the committee, 6.5 percent of the total number of employed persons fell on public administration, defense and social security, 4.2 percent - on transport and warehousing, 3.6 percent - on agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3.5 percent - on scientific and technical activities, 2 percent - for financial and insurance activities, 14 percent - for other sectors of the economy.
