BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. Azerbaijan has reduced purchases of Russian lumber by almost a quarter - to 0.602 million cubic meters, Trend reports via the Russian Roslesinforg.

According to the organization, in general, the volume of exports of lumber (board, timber, veneer, etc.) from Russia decreased by 20.8 percent in 2022 and amounted to 23.328 million cubic meters.

"More than half of the sales volume is accounted for in China - 13.087 million cubic meters, which is 7 percent lower than in 2021. Uzbekistan became the second-largest buyer of lumber from Russia last year - 1.9 million cubic meters (unchanged compared to 2021)," said the statement.

Roslesinforg added that a total of 0.762 million cubic meters of boards and timber were shipped to Kazakhstan, which is 6.5 percent lower than in 2021.

Overall, the Russian Federation supplied lumber to 89 countries in 2022.

Azerbaijan's industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs produced products worth 86 billion manat ($50.5 billion) in 2022, which is 1.1 percent less than in 2021. The growth in the production of lumber and lumber products amounted to 13.4 percent.
