BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 20. The total value of products manufactured by Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and sole proprietors decreased from January through February 2023, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, this figure amounted to 12.7 billion manat ($3.8 billion), down by 2.8 percent on annual basis.

From January through February this year, production in the oil and gas sector declined by 3.7 percent, while in the non-oil sector – rose by 6.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

During this period, 73.2 percent of industrial production accounted for the mining sector, 21.5 percent – for the manufacturing sector, 4.8 percent – on the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.5 percent – on the water supply, purification and waste treatment.

Meanwhile, commercial oil production in Azerbaijan decreased by 6.4 percent, whereas commercial gas production grew by 0.9 percent compared to the first two months of last year.

Besides, in the first two months of this year, manufacturing of construction materials in the processing industry rose by 35.1 percent, cars, trailers and semi-trailers – 2.1 times, electrical equipment – 25.8 percent, clothing – 17.3 percent, machinery and spare parts – 10.4 percent, leather and products thereof – 3.7 times, paper and cardboard – 46.4 percent, lumber and products thereof – 2.3 times, textile production – 1.3 percent, computer and optical products – 4.9 percent, and drinks – by 17.9 percent.

At the same time, pharmaceuticals production grew by 59.4 percent, tobacco production – 34.7 percent, rubber and plastic products – 23.9 percent, and food products – 12.7 percent, while production in the metallurgical industry decreased by 35.4 percent, in the chemical industry – 17.2 percent, manufacturing of petrochemicals – 6.4 percent, finished metal products – 4.2 percent, and furniture – 1.3 percent on annual basis.

The production volume in manufacturing, distribution, and supply of electricity, as well as gas and steam, rose by 8.3 percent. Moreover, production in water supply, waste treatment, and processing grew by 15.9 percent from January through February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and sole proprietors manufactured products worth 86 billion manat ($50.5 billion) in 2022, which was 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
