BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. The International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Energy Forum (IEF), and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) gathered key policymakers and industry leaders for the 15th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks, Trend reports.
The annual event serves as a platform for producer-consumer dialogue on energy security, climate goals, and sustainable development.
Held under the patronage of Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, the symposium coincided with the release of the IEF Outlooks Comparison Report, which analyzes energy transition scenarios from IEA and OPEC to support investment decisions. Hosted by the IEF at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), the event featured discussions on evolving energy governance, market volatility, and technological advancements.
IEF Secretary General Jassim Alshirawi highlighted the need for constructive dialogue to bridge uncertainties in energy projections, while OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais underscored the importance of data-driven analysis for market stability. IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol emphasized the role of energy markets in economic development, stressing the value of informed policymaking.
The symposium also welcomed senior officials from the U.S., India, and IEF member countries, reinforcing international cooperation on energy security and sustainability. Established as part of the 2010 Cancún Declaration, the event continues to foster collaboration between producers and consumers in an evolving global energy landscape.
