BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 18

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran implements a number of plans on the laying of roads in the Ilam Province (western Iran), the Deputy Governor of Ilam Province Ahmad Karami told Trend .

According to the deputy governor, the technical advantage of these roads is that they connect the roads of the province to the southern border points.

Karami added that one of these roads is the Ilam-Mehran highway. A part of this highway is expected to be put into operation in the next few months.

“The construction of two tunnels on the Ilam-Mehran highway has been launched. If the necessary funds are allocated, the construction of these tunnels will be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2022),” he said.

The deputy governor noted that in addition, work is underway to expand the Dehloran-Mehran road in the province, which is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

Reportedly, the length of the Ilam-Mehran highway in Iran's Ilam Province is 120 kilometers. So far, 114 kilometers of this highway have been put into operation, and construction work is underway on 6 kilometers. It is planned to build two tunnels with a length of 710 meters and 860 meters on the highway.
