Azerbaijan’s GDP Growth Rate Exceeds 13% in Jan-Feb

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 March / Trend corr I.Khalilova / In Jan 2008, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Azerbaijan increased by 13.4% as compared to Jan - Feb2006, the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee said. At current prices, GDP made up AZN 4.767mln. The GDP volume comprised AZN 559.7 per capita ($662.5), with an increase of 12.1%.

The total of volume of production rose in all spheres of economy by 14.8% to 71.7% of the GDP, with major share of 63.5% (AZN 3.027.9bln) from the industry. The specific weight of value added cost in service sphere made up 20.5%. Net taxes from production and import comprised 7.8% in GDP.

AZN 120.5mln of the value added cost was collected from the hunting sector and agriculture (2.5%), AZN 270.9mln from construction sector (5.7%), AZN 208.7mln (4.4%) - transport, AZN 77.1mln (1.6%)- communications, AZN 295.4mln (6.2%) - wholesale and retail trade, automobile sphere, household wares and services for repairing the objects of personal use, AZN 42.8mln (0.9%)- restaurants and hotel sector and AZN 350.5mln (7.4%) from the social services.
