(AFP) - Russia's state fisheries agency proposed Thursday that all five countries bordering the Caspian Sea impose a five-year ban on fishing for sturgeon, prized for its caviar eggs, Russian news agencies reported.
"We propose a five-year ban on the fishing of sturgeon to our Caspian Sea partners - Turkmenistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan," the head of Russia's state fisheries agency, Andrei Krainy, was quoted as saying.
