Financiers have highest wages in Kazakhstan

The average monthly nominal wage per employee in Kazakhstan was 61,378 tenge in January 2009, a 12.7-percent increase from the same period in 2008, Kazakh State Statistics Agency spokesman Zhanel Satabayeva told Trend .

"Financial employees have the highest wages at 130,800 tenge, mining industry employees - 106,800 tenge, real estate operations employees - 94,400 tenge, and transport and communications employees - 79,500 tenge," Satabayeva said.

Agriculture and fishing employees have the lowest wages at 27,700 and 24,000 tenge, she said.

"In the regional context, the highest wages are paid in Atyrau at 115,100 tenge, 1.9 times higher than the average for the country," Satabayeva said.

In the northern Kazakh region, wages hit 40,500 tenge, Zhambyl - 41,300 tenge and Akmola - 42,400 tenge, which is 31-34 percent below the national average, she said.
