Around 40 percent of industrial accidents in Azerbaijan take place in construction sector in Jan-Jun

Some 131 accidents took place in production work of Azerbaijan over the first six months of 2009, including 50 cases registered in the construction sector, the State Labor Inspectorate at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security said on July 15

In accordance with monitoring, the death toll was 33, including 18 in the construction sector. Some 122 people got injuries with 38 in the construction sector.

In accordance with results of the inspection's monitoring, 25 accidents took place because of enterprises, 10 accidents - companies, 66 - the suffered, 22 accidents - enterprise and suffered, and 4 - constructor and construction company. Some 18 accidents too place in industrial production and eight in construction due to outside interference.

In this period the Inspectorate held monitoring in 1,217 enterprises, including 487 governmental and 729 private. The inspectorate considered 1,476 appeals and 508 letters.

Employees were given delayed pay in the amount of 508,550 manat, including 471,900 in wage, 10,030 manat in damage inflicted, 26,010 manat in social benefits and compensations.   

As a result of the Inspectorates' interference, 32 people illegally discharged from their jobs were restored. As many as 4,420 violations of employee rights were revealed and employers were fined the amount of 263,970 manat for administrative violations.

In this period the Inspectorate achieved the signing of contracts with 264,000 employees and 676 employees concluded collective contracts.

On July 15 official rate of Azerbaijani US dollar was 0.8043 manat.
