Ashgabat, Tehran discuss consular, border and customs issues

The results of a meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission for consular, border and customs issues were discussed at the last governmental meeting in Turkmenistan, Turkmen Altyn Asyr national television channel reported on Saturday.

The results of a meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission for consular, border and customs issues were discussed at the last governmental meeting in Turkmenistan, Turkmen Altyn Asyr national television channel reported on Saturday.

The intergovernmental meeting was held recently in Tehran, Iran.
"The meeting has once again confirmed the two neighboring countries' commitment to full cooperation and the mutual willingness to use all mechanisms to enhance further fruitful trade, in association with economic and humanitarian development," the channel reported.

According to the report, the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov stressed "a high level of the interstate dialogue and said that in its turn Turkmenistan attaches considerable significance to interaction with Iran and intends to further enhance and expand them.
Iran and Turkmenistan have jointly implemented such large-scale projects as the construction of the "Dostluk" reservoir, Tejan-Sarakhs-Mashad railroad, interstate gas pipelines and power transmission lines. Implementation of another major railway project "North-South", which also involves Kazakhstan, is presently underway.
