Azerbaijan Railways CJSC may open its representative office in Iran, Javid Gurbanov, head of Azerbaijan Railways, told reporters Oct. 10 in Baku.
Gurbanov said that it may happen after the commissioning of the Nakhchivan-Mashhad passenger train.
“As you know, we don’t have direct railway communication with Iran. There is a railway from Julfa, however, we can’t use it due to Armenia’s occupation policy,” he noted. “But we will launch the Nakhchivan-Mashhad passenger train soon; we have already sent wagons for the train and after that, I think, we will open a representative office in Iran.”
