One of the largest Turkish manufacturers of textile products for the defense industry - "Norm Ltd.". plans to create a joint brand production in Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek and Turkish sides have already held the first round of talks in late December 2017 in Tashkent. "Norm Ltd." primarily aimed at organizing the production of textiles using carbon technology and high-quality cotton fiber.
The representative of the Turkish company, Jelal Ogutguller, noted the favorable conditions for foreign investors created in the country, including relatively low costs for electricity and skilled labor, availability of raw materials.
"Norm Ltd." intends to use its unique technologies to create production in Uzbekistan. The new joint venture will allow the Turkish side to diversify exports and consolidate itself in the markets of neighboring countries, including Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
"Following the talks, the parties agreed that in January 2018 a working group of the Turkish company will visit Uzbekistan to study the project in detail and discuss specific areas of cooperation," Uztekstilprom said.
To date, "Norm Ltd." supplies its products not only to the Turkish army, but also to the military units of the United States, India and Great Britain.
Textile enterprises in Uzbekistan, in turn, supply products to Uzbek servicemen and to the Russian army.
Light industry enterprises of Uzbekistan, according to preliminary data, exported products for $1.1 billion in 2017.
To date, about 7,000 enterprises of the light industry are operating, cotton-fiber production capacity of 1.4 million tons has been created, of which about 60 percent is used to meet the needs of domestic textile enterprises.
Over the past ten years, the industry has maintained a steady growth rate, the production of textiles increased 4.3 times, the volume of its exports - almost 4 times.
