As many as 1,108.1 kilograms of silver were produced in the first quarter of 2019, which is five times more than in the first quarter last year, Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
During the reporting period, gold production in Azerbaijan decreased by 38.1 percent as compared to the same period last year. In January-March 2019, the total volume of produced gold amounted to 915.9 kilograms. For the same period last year, 1,480 kilograms of gold were produced.
Copper production in the country doubled and reached 511.8 tons of copper concentrate produced in the first three months of this year.
There are two companies operating in the sphere of mining of precious metals in Azerbaijan including Anglo Asian Mining and the state-owned AzerGold company.
