The EU and Georgia are intensifying cooperation in the framework of new projects, a source from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said, Trend reports with reference to agenda.ge.

At the conference dedicated to 10th anniversary of the cooperation between Georgia and the European Union within of Eastern Partnership, two agreements were concluded.

The agreement "SAFE: EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight Against Crime in Georgia" implies providing financial assistance to Georgia in the amount of 28 million euros.

The goal of the program is to help Georgia to increase security. The program includes support in the management of emergency crisis situations and enhancing the security of citizens of the country through good governance and improvement of the rule of law.

The second document is a financial agreement “EU 4 Economic Governance and Fiscal Accountability”, within which Georgia will receive assistance from the EU in the amount of 18,640,000 euros.

The goal of this program is to strengthen economic governance in Georgia and democratic accountability, including increasing the effectiveness of external audit and ensuring independent monitoring and public participation in the process of oversight of public finances.
