Persian carpet market needs to flourish both inside and outside the country and this requires great efforts to promote the product and apply high standards in the production, a member of the Carpet Commission of the Parliament said.

"The National Carpet Center of Iran has productive relationship with the Agricultural Bank, Industry and Mine Bank and Entrepreneurship Fund to boost production of Iranian carpets, which are of big value,” Hossein-Ali Haji-Deligani told Trend.

"However, the economic situation is not good, and in order to increase people's purchasing power, necessary conditions must be created," the MP said.

“Boosting production and protecting domestic goods is a national task, so everyone needs to contribute to this sphere, while the authorities shall consider incentives to motivate people,” Haji-Deligani said.

Responding to how the Iranian carpet can gain a greater share in the world market he said that some people justify reducing the share of Iranian carpet in world market by the sanctions and barriers to the currency transfer.

“But I believe that some of our businessmen did not perform well, and this led to diminished value of our carpets in the world markets,” the MP said.

Head of the National Carpet Center of Iran Fereshteh Dastpak announced at a news conference in early December that the center intends to provide credit card facilities to Iranian carpet buyers.

In her words, Agricultural Bank, Entrepreneurship Fund and the Bank of Industry and Mine announced their readiness to support the project.

“Before the sanctions, 30 percent of Iran's carpets were exported to the US and 12 percent to Germany and Japan, but currently the main Iran's carpet buyer is Japan,” Dastpak added.
