Iran to release more imported rice from customs

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.20

The problem concerning the release of 24,600 tons of rice from Bushehr customs have been resolved, said the director-general of Bushehr Province customs.

"Importers from the private sector have received tracking code for assigned foreign currency from Central Bank of Iran to release of 3,000 tons of rice and 1,000 tons from this amount has been released from customs," Behrouz Gharebigi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The government has assigned foreign currency for release of stored imported goods from customs to resolve the issue. From 10,600 tons of imported rice that belongs to Government Trading Corporation of Iran 8,000 tons are being released from customs," he added.

He went on to say that the Government Trading Corporation currently has 10,500 tons of imported rice in the storehouse and have received tracking code from the Central Bank of Iran and no longer have a problem to be released. Furthermore, in terms of releasing necessary goods, five items have preferential foreign currency while the problem for other items have been resolved and they can be released without the need to obtain a tracking code.

"The issue of releasing 1,100 tons of basic material for production units has been resolved in Bushehr customs and currently 400 tons of these goods have been loaded to be discharged," he noted.

The government economic headquarter has approved the list of 3,200 items to be released from customs.
