By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan needs to purchase more than 145,500 tons of cotton fiber, 8,500 tons of fine-fiber cotton, 200 tons of ulyuk and 200 tons of lint in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The low volume of material required for the purchase is caused with the construction of textile factories in the Kaka and Babadayhan districts of the Akhal region of Turkmenistan.

The textile industry of Turkmenistan faces the task of increasing the volume of products, forming new, high-tech factories, creating processing enterprises for the manufacture of competitive products based on the use of local raw materials, the report says.

Turkmenistan currently exports more than 70 percent of textile products to foreign markets.

One of the textile exporters in Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Textile Complex, which provides the country's domestic markets with textile products, producing a variety of export-oriented goods.

Turkmenistan's textile products are exported to more than 30 countries, including countries such as the US, Great Britain, France, Germany, and Switzerland.

Turkmenistan annually grows more than one million tons of cotton, which serves as a raw material base for the development of the textile industry.

A significant part of Turkmenistan's products exported abroad is home textiles, sports, and denim clothing. The textile industry of Turkmenistan includes more than 70 textile and clothing enterprises.
