Iran announced number of mines to be put into operation

As many as 462 mines were licensed for launch in Iran during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

According to the statistics, the number of mining enterprises put into operation in Iran over the 9 months increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 445 mines were put into operation in the same period last Iranian year.

“A total of 3,700 people were employed with the launch of these mines within nine months. This is a decrease of 0.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 3,720 people were employed in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Furthermore, 1,070 mines were licensed for exploration in 9 months. This is an increase of 6.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. While in the same period last Iranian year, the licenses were issued for the exploration of 1,030 mines, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 910 billion rials (about $21.7 million) is to be spent on the exploration of the mines. This is a decrease of 8.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 840 billion rials (about $20 million) was to be spent on the exploration of mines in the same period last Iranian year.
