Azerbaijan’s Azermash OJSC produced over 5,000 cars of Khazar brand from the beginning of its activity until late March 2021, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Azermash OJSC Zaur Hajiyev told Trend.
According to Hajiyev, about 90 percent of the total volume of manufactured passenger cars were sold.
“In the near future, it is also planned to export 400 cars to Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2021, two cars have already been delivered to Ukraine. These cars are currently undergoing certification,” he said.
The deputy chairman also touched upon the topic of expanding production.
“Russian GAZ Group and Azermash Park LLC have created a joint production of commercial and specialized vehicles in Azerbaijan,” the expert added.
“The agreement on the establishment of the enterprise was signed in the spring of 2018 in Baku, and the construction of the plant began in February 2019. The GAZ Group will supply vehicle kits for the production of vehicles based on GAZelle NEXT and GAZonov NEXT. The group's experts also trained personnel and provided the necessary documentation,” Hajiyev said.
On March 29, 2018, the official opening of a plant for the production of Khazar cars took place in Azerbaijan. The main founder of the enterprise is Azermash OJSC.
The plant is located on the territory of the Neftchala Industrial District in the southeast of Azerbaijan. All cars produced on it meet Euro-5 standards.
