IRICA unveils details of Iran’s imports

Iran's imports increased by 21 percent in terms of value, while decreased by 5 percent in terms volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The director general emphasized that Iran imported 13.8 million tons of goods worth $16.6 billion over the 5 months.

"So, Iran imported 4.43 million tons of goods worth $5.39 billion from the UAE, 1.1 million tons worth $3.6 billion from China and 1.57 million tons worth $1.8 billion from Turkey within the mentioned period," he added.

Mirashrafi noted that Iran also imported 431,000 tons of goods worth $668 million from Germany and 692,000 tons worth $572 million from Switzerland.

According to him, the imported goods were mainly mobile phones, corn feed, soybeans, sunflower oil, barley, wheat, compressed soybeans, palm oil, sugar and carbon electrode.

The director general said that the transit of goods through Iran for the 5 months increased by 95 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 4.72 million tons of goods were transited through Iran during the reporting period.
