Iran's imports from Brazil declines

Iran's import from Brazil including livestock inputs has declined following credit issue for shipment, said the head of Iran - Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Container ships from Brazil were required to carry goods to Dubai for cross-staffing and send them from Jebel Ali port to Bandar Abbas in Iran, Fakhrodin Amerian noted.

Iran's estimated export to Brazil is less than $100M that include petrochemical, handmade carpet, pistachio, raisin, and food items.

Iran's annual import from Brazil is more than $4 billion which includes meat, chicken, soybean meal, corn, and vegetable oil.

Bulk carriers directly import goods from Brazil to Iranian ports however container ships are required to ship goods to Dubai and load cargo from there to Iran's Banadar Abbas port

The cost of shipment from Brazil to Jebel Ali Port is $6,000 for a container that would be doubled for transportation to Iran.

Iran seeks to pursue bartering goods with Brazil to prevents banking problems and to convince a shipping company for direct shipment of cargo from Brazil.

Iran - Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce is to launch an office in the city of São Paulo to connects businessmen of the two countries.
