Iran imports trucks to renovate transportation fleet

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.19

Iran is importing some 4,600 trucks as part of the government's plan to renovate the country's transportation fleet, said head of Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization Darius Amani, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

The Ministry of Road and Urban Development of Iran has already imported 3,600 trucks that are stored at the customs, while 1,000 trucks have already been discharged, Amani noted.

Meanwhile, the ministry has signed documents with three domestic auto factories to manufacture trucks in order to bring new vehicles to Iran's transport fleet.

The agenda includes subsequent expansion and renovation of public transportation in the country including minibuses, buses, vans and taxis.
