BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.26. Consumer price inflation in Azerbaijan is forecast at 8.1 percent in 2023, as compared to 12.7 percent in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the UN World Economic Situation and Prospects 2023 report.

This figure is expected to drop to 5.3 percent in 2024, reads the report.

UN predicts 3 percent growth in real GDP in 2023 and 2024 each.

Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee says that the country’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 13.9 percent from January through December 2022 against the same period of 2021.

Food, beverage, and tobacco prices went up by 19.5 percent, while non-food products – by 8.6 percent. Meanwhile, paid services rendered to the population rose by 10.4 percent.

The country’s CPI in December 2022 edged up by one percent compared to November 2022 and 14.4 compared to December 2021.
