The visit of the World Bank regional country director Donna Dowset-Coyrola to Azerbaijan has finished today. The main goal of her two-week visit was to manage the World Bank office in Baku due to non-availability of the manager and to hold negotiations with the government within the cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan, the World Bank Baku office told Trend. Selection of the country manager is currently held at the bank’s head office.

In January 2006 Donna Dowset-Coyrola plans to visit Azerbaijan again, but this visit will be related to the development of the partnership strategy with the country designed for 2006-2009. The World Bank plans to present to the government in the beginning of the year the strategy draft with the list of projects to be financed by the bank during the following 4 years. Its preliminary cost is estimated $1,2 billion.

The term of the previous strategy expired on 30 June 2005 and it was planned for 2003-2005. During its implementation the World Bank funded projects for about $200 million.
