Turkey imports over 6 bln cubic meters of gas in January-February

In January-February 2008, the Botas pipeline company imported about 6.1 billion cubic meters of gas from different sources to Turkey, a report on the company's Web site said.

A total of 38 billion cubic meters of gas were imported by the company in 2008.

Some 4.7 billion cubic meters of gas imported to Turkey accounted for natural gas and 1.3 million cubic meters - for liquefied gas.

In 2008, 32.2 billion cubic meters accounted for natural gas and 5.6 billion cubic meters - for liquefied gas.

In February, Turkey consumed 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas, compared to 3.5 billion in January. A total of 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas was delivered to power stations, 1.2 billion cubic meters - to consumers and 507 million cubic meters - to industrial companies.

Turkey consumed 36 billion cubic meters of gas in 2008, compared to 35 billion cubic meters in 2007.
