BP: Turkmenistan cuts gas production

As of Jan.1, 2010, Turkmenistan's proved oil reserves are estimated at 0.1 billion tons (0.6 billion barrels), which is similar to estimates for Jan.1, 2009, BP's World Energy Outlook 2010 says.

Based on the information, Turkmenistan extracted 10.2 million tons of oil (about 206,000 barrels per day) in 2009, which is similar to figures (205,000 barrels per day) of 2008.

The volume of oil consumption in the country reached 5.2 million tons in 2009, which is similar to figures of 2008. Average daily oil consumption in the country amounted to 120,000 barrels compared to 117,000 barrels in 2008.

According to BP's report, as of Jan.1, 2010, Turkmenistan's proved gas reserves hit 8.1 trillion cubic meters, which is similar to estimates for Jan.1, 2009.

Turkmenistan produced 36.4 billion cubic meters of gas compared to 66.1 billion cubic meters in 2008.

Gas consumption in the country amounted to 19.8 billion cubic meters in 2009 compared to 19 billion cubic meters in 2008.
