Gas reserves hit 1.8 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijani underground storage facilities

Roughly 10 million cubic meters of gas per day are pumped into underground storage facilities in Azerbaijan, an oil and gas industry source reported.

There are 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas reserves in the storage facilities.

The volume of gas reserves in the underground facilities will hit 3 billion cubic meters in 2010. The figure was about 2 billion cubic meters in 2009 compared to 1.4 billion cubic meters in 2008.

The country has two underground storage facilities - Garadagh and Kalmaz.

According to SOCAR, about 507.7 million cubic meters of gas were pumped into Garadagh underground gas storage facility last year and about 794.9 million cubic meters were pumped into Kalmaz.
