Azerbaijan, Baku, July 4 / Trend, A.Taghiyeva /

Turkey does not intend to cut off electricity and water supply to Syria, despite tense relations with Damascus, the Haberler newspaper quotes Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Taner Yildiz as saying on Wednesday.

"Turkey will continue to supply Syria with electricity and water that is supplied to the country through the Iraqi territory," Yildiz said.

Turkey supplies 232.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity to Syria every month.

Turkish and Syrian relations are experiencing tension after Turkish Air Force F-4 jet, departing from the Erhac airbase in the Province of Malatya, was shot down.

Syria said it shot down the F4 jet because it was flying over Syrian territorial waters. However, Turkish side says that the F4 jet was shot down in international airspace and its wreckage fell into Syrian territorial waters.
