Kazakhstan, French AREVA Mines discuss potential links in uranium production

Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company (NAC) JSC, Vladimir Shkolnik, has held a meeting with the Senior Executive Vice-President of the French AREVA Mines company, Olivier Wantz, at the Third Nuclear Security Summit at The Hague.

Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom National Atomic Company (NAC) JSC, Vladimir Shkolnik, has held a meeting with the Senior Executive Vice-President of the French AREVA Mines company, Olivier Wantz, at the Third Nuclear Security Summit at The Hague, Kazatomprom said.

"During the business talks, the parties discussed the current status of joint projects in the areas of uranium production and processing, the technical improvement of production processes and the use of renewable energy sources in the uranium mining facilities in Kazakhstan," Kazatomprom JSC said.

The Third Nuclear Security Summit attended by representatives from 53 countries and four international organisations, was held on March 24-25 at The Hague (Netherlands). The high level discussion on topical issues related to global nuclear security became the main task of the summit.

Kazatomprom NAC JSC is Kazakhstan's national operator on the export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for power plants, special equipment, dual-use technology and materials.
