Oil products’ consumption down in Azerbaijan

In the first half of 2017, the consumption of the main types of petroleum products amounted to 1.9 million tons in Azerbaijan, which is 1.1 percent less than in the first half of 2016, said a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 32.4 percent of the consumed petroleum products accounted for gasoline, 31.5 percent accounted for diesel fuel, 16.9 percent for black oil, 5.3 percent for naphtha, 3.9 percent for kerosene and aviation fuel, 4 percent for bitumen, 3.7 percent for liquefied gas, while 1.1 percent accounted for lubricants and 1.2 percent accounted for other petroleum products.

In the first half of 2017, the commercial gas reserves in Azerbaijan amounted to 11.8 billion cubic meters. Some 78.9 percent of the reserves were formed through production, 14.5 percent were formed by the reserves available in early 2017 and 6.6 percent were formed from imports.

Some 43.8 percent of natural gas reserves were consumed in Azerbaijan, 37.4 percent were exported, 4.5 percent accounted for the loss and the remaining 14.3 percent were left as backup volumes.

In 2016, 4.1 million tons of main types of petroleum products were consumed in Azerbaijan, which is 10.7 percent more than in 2015.
