Electricity exports up in Azerbaijan

According to the customs declarations, in January-October 2018, Azerbaijan exported 1.27 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity against 843.84 million kilowatt-hours, exported during the same period of 2017, the statistical report of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee says.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported electricity worth $59.64 million compared to $37.26 million in January-October 2017.

According to the customs declarations, in 2017, Azerbaijan exported 1.16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to 646.76 million kilowatt-hours, exported in 2016.

The main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan is Azerenergy OJSC, which has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants on its balance sheet.

The generation capacity of the power system of Azerbaijan is 7172.6 megawatts, which allows for generating about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This enables Azerbaijan to export 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
