Uzbekistan to build 19 micro HPP instead of 32

BAKU / Trend / -The Government of Uzbekistan recognized the previously planned construction of 32 micro hydroelectric power plants (HPP) in the Jizzakh, Namangan, Syrdarya and Khorezm regions as inappropriate, Trend reports citing legal information portal Norma.uz.

The reason is the short period of the watercourse, low pressure (1−4.5 m) and water flow through the channel (0.25 - 4 cubic meters per second), states resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The data were obtained by specialists of the Uzbekhydroenergo company and the Hydroproject design institute based on the results of studying prospect areas for the construction of micro-hydroelectric power stations in Andijan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Kashkadarya, Samarkand and Fergana regions.

Specialists investigated the sites taking into account the results of a pilot project for the construction of micro-hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 200 kW on the outlet channel of the Zaamin reservoir in the Jizzakh region.

During the study, experts identified 14 promising sections of watercourses for the construction of new micro-hydroelectric power plants in Andijan (six), Kashkadarya (two), Samarkand (five) and Fergana regions (one). There are higher pressure of water (6−90 m), water flow (1−8 cubic meters per second) and long flow regimes during the year.

Thus, 19 micro-hydroelectric power stations will be built with the total estimated capacity of which is 10.05 kW. Construction costs will be over $ 12 million. Commissioning is scheduled for the IV quarter of 2019 and III-IV quarters of 2020.
