Daily electricity generation of Iran's Aqkand Wind Farm, located in the Mianeh county of the country's East Azerbaijan province, will reach 50 megawatts next week, Hamida Isgandari, executive manager of the Alternative Renewable Energy and Small Hydroelectric Power Plants Program of Iran's regional electric company said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Isgandari noted that 25 units of 2.5 megawatt wind turbines have been installed in the wind farm.

The wind farm currently supplies 15 megawatts of electricity to Iran's grid on daily basis, the executive manager said.

A 20-megawatt alternative energy power plant is being built in Sarab county of East Azerbaijan province and will be put into operation within the next 36 months, Isgandari said.

Each megawatt of generated solar or wind energy requires 850,000 euros to be put into operation, Isgandari said.

"In East Azerbaijan province, proposals for the construction of 400 megawatt wind farms in Ahar and Sarab counties, a 500 megawatt wind farm in Osku county, as well as a 300 megawatt farm in Bonab county can be prepared and presented to investors," Isgandari said.
