Azerbaijan’s oil output down in 2019, says BP

Azerbaijan’s oil production stood at 779,000 barrels per day in 2019, as compared to 796,000 barrels per day in 2018, or 2.1 percent down year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to BP’s Statistical Review of World Energy.

Oil production in Azerbaijan has changed as follows from 2009 to 2017: 1027 thousand barrels per day in 2009, 1037 thousand barrels per day in 2010, 932 thousand barrels per day in 2011, 882 thousand barrels per day in 2012, 888 thousand barrels per day in 2013, 861 thousand barrels per day in 2014, 851 thousand barrels per day in 2015, 838 thousand barrels per day in 2016, 793 thousand barrels per day in 2017.

The country’s daily oil output has dropped by 1.4 percent from 2008 to 2018.

Oil production in Azerbaijan equaled to 38.1 million tonnes in 2019, as compared to 39.2 million tonnes in 2018, or 2.7 percent down year-on-year.

Azerbaijan’s oil production stood at 50.9 million tonnes in 2009, 51.3 million tonnes in 2010, 46.1 million tonnes in 2011, 43.7 million tonnes in 2012, 43.8 million tonnes in 2013, 42.5 million tonnes in 2014, 42.0 million tonnes in 2015, 41.4 million tonnes in 2016 and 39.1 million tonnes in 2017.

Crude oil and condensate production in Azerbaijan totaled 762 thousands of barrels per day in 2019, as compared to 783 thousands of barrels per day in 2018, down by 2.8 percent year-on-year.

The country saw a 1.3 percent decline in crude oil and condensate production from 2008 to 2018.

The country produced 1014 thousands of barrels per day in 2009, 1023 thousands of barrels per day in 2010, 919 thousands of barrels per day in 2011, 872 thousands of barrels per day in 2012, 877 thousands of barrels per day in 2013, 849 thousands of barrels per day in 2014, 840 thousands of barrels per day in 2015, 826 thousands of barrels per day in 2016 and 781 thousands of barrels per day in 2017.

Total proved reserves in Azerbaijan stood at 7 billion barrels in 2019, 0.4 percent of world’s total proved oil reserves.

Global proved oil reserves were 1734 billion barrels at the end of 2019, down 2 billion barrels versus 2018. OPEC holds 70.1 percent of global reserves. The top countries in terms of reserves are Venezuela (17.5 percent of global reserves), closely followed by Saudi Arabia (17.2 percent) and Canada (9.8 percent).
