Iran aims to build new oil, gas refineries amid growing consumption

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.3

Trend:

Iranian government is looking to intensify building new refineries to prevent the sale of raw materials, Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The oil minister has stressed that Iran is working to increase the production capacity of refineries to reduce the import of petrochemical products and finish the incomplete projects in this field.

"The consumption in certain industries has increased, as well as for power plants, so the ministry is working on plans that would help increase the production capacity of refineries," Owji explained.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Parliament Research Center (IPRC) recently released a report indicating that Iran requires from $35 to $60 billion worth of investments to build new refineries.
