BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 15

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran is focusing on the development of the Tus gas field in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran), Executive Director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), Ramin Hatami said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Hatami said that this field is located 35 km from the Khangiran gas field. The first well related to the presence of gas in the Tus field was drilled in 2000.

"As a result of the research carried out by the specialists of the ICOFC, it became clear that the field contains the required level of gas reserves. By drilling of 3 new wells, as well as repairing an existing well in the 1st phase of the Tus field, daily 3 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted from the field, " he said.

The director added that in order to get sustainable extraction from the Khangiran gas field, 2 new wells will be drilled, 1 well will be repaired and necessary equipment will be installed on 3 wells in the field over next Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

The Iranian Central Oil Fields Company has 84 oil and gas fields in 11 provinces of Iran. So far, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed.

The ICOFC extracted a total of 63 million barrels of crude oil and gas condensate and 70 billion cubic meters of gas over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).

The Khangiran gas field that contains 480 billion cubic meters of gas reserves, produces 17 million cubic meters of gas daily.
