BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 7. Azerbaijan and Türkiye have reached the oil exploration agreement, which is to be implemented by the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Turkish Batman, Trend reports via Turkish media.
In accordance with the March agreement between the two countries, a representative of the SOCAR Integrated Drilling Trust Zakulla Karimov arrived in Batman to conduct oil exploration and drilling activities on behalf of the Turkish state-owned TPAO (Petroleum Corporation).
During his visit, Karimov undertook preliminary studies and met with Batman's Governor Ekrem Canalp.
"At the meeting with SOCAR's representatives, the governor was informed about the oil exploration work to be carried out," Turkish media said.
Karimov talked about the company's drilling plans in Batman within the contract signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye at the Oil Resources Summit held in March 2022 in Istanbul.
"We will be glad if we find oil while drilling," he said at the summit.
