Iran’s Rey TPP boosts power generation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. Electricity generation of Iran’s Rey Thermal Power Plant in Tehran Province increased by 6 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Executive Director of Rey Power Generation Management Company Hamid Badorestani said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

According to Badorestani, the Rey TPP generated about 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 8 months.

"Of this volume, about 2.15 billion kilowatt-hours have been supplied to Iran's electricity network," he added.

The director noted that under the company’s program, repair work is being carried out at several units of the power plant. The goal is to be ready to generate maximum electricity next summer.

Iran's Rey Thermal Power Plant has a total of 29 gas turbines and the generation capacity of this power plant is 979.4 megawatt-hours.

At present, 21 gas turbines of the TPP are operating and can generate 754 megawatt-hours of electricity.
