BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 17. Iran plans to start pumping water into the Chamshir dam in the Gachsaran County of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in (southwestern Iran), during the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Project Manager for Iran's Chamshir Water Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant Mahmoud Mahzarniyyeh said at a press conference on December 17, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The official said that there is currently a 95-percent physical progress in the construction of the mentioned water dam.

According to Mahzarniyyeh, the Chamshir dam, built on the Zohra River, is 151 meters high and 48 km long. The dam has a water capacity of 2.3 billion cubic meters.

“Furthermore, a hydroelectric power plant was also built on the dam. The station has 3 power units with the generation capacity of 176 megawatt-hours each. So, the power plant can generate a total of 482 megawatt-hours of electricity,” he noted.

Mahzarniyyeh added that this dam and the hydroelectric power plant were built with the cooperation of a Chinese company.

The official also pointed out that about 230 million euros were spent on Chamshir dam and the HPP.
